Budget air-carrier, Deccan, has rolled back its fare hike, barely 24-hours after it announced the hike on Thursday.
The airline had announced a 10 per cent increase in its base fares on Thursday.
"We have decided to put on hold our earlier proposal to hike base fares by 10 per cent," a UB group official told PTI in Mumbai on Friday.
The official, however, did not give any reason for the roll-back.
It is understood that the airline was forced to take this decision as its competitors were not effecting a hike in their air fares, despite the 2.8 per cent increase in aviation turbine fuel prices announced by state-run oil companies on Thursday.
National carrier, Air India, and private air-carriers Kingfisher and Deccan, had announced a 10 per cent increase in their domestic fares across the board.
However, the Naresh Goyal-owned Jet Airways had effected a 10 per cent hike in its economy-class fares and a five per cent hike in its business class fares.
Budget carriers such as IndiGo, SpiceJet and GoAir have so far not increased their fares.
