Euro a bit higher at $1.3010

The 16-nation euro bought $1.3010 in early European trading on Thursday, up from $1.2980 in New York late on Wednesday. The British pound climbed to $1.5613 from $1.5584 and the dollar slipped to 87.19 Japanese yen from 87.46 yen.

In its regional survey of the economy, the Federal Reserve said Wednesday that economic growth is slowing in some parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the Commerce Department said orders for durable goods fell in June. It was the second straight monthly decline and the largest drop since August 2009.
