At Rs 31,035 for 10 grams, New Delhi topped the chart, followed by Chennai (Rs 31,000), Mumbai (Rs 30,995) and Ahmedabad (Rs 30,905).

The rates surpassed the June 19 record of Rs 30,750.

India’s gold demand is expected to drop by around 40% in the second half of the year due to high prices, say industry experts.
