Govt in rural power drive

Power minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today said he has requested the finance minister to allocate Rs 36,000 crore under the 12th five year plan for the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana, which is the government's flagship rural electricity programme.

Power minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday said he has requested the finance minister to allocate Rs 36,000 crore under the 12th five year plan for the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana, which is the government's flagship rural electricity programme.

"I have requested the finance minister to allocate Rs 36,000 crore for RGGVY to meet the target of providing power to 574,000 households," Scindia said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
