Aditya Birla Group company Grasim Industries on Thursday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 881.8 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009.
The company had a net profit of Rs 562.9 crore in the same period last fiscal.
The figures are not comparable owing to sale of sponge iron business and consolidation of Idea Cellular Ltd as a joint venture company, Grasim Industries said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Total operating income stood at Rs 4,743.3 crore for the quarter under review, while it had a total operating income of Rs 4,486.5 crore in the corresponding fiscal last fiscal.
On a standalone basis the company has posted a net profit of Rs 674.3 crore in the latest quarter. It had a net profit of Rs 419.5 crore in the year-ago period. Shares of Grasim Industries on Thursday closed at Rs 2,133.15 on the BSE, down 0.89 per cent from its previous close.
