GTL to set up 500 seat BPO centre at Pune

GTL will invest Rs 25 cr to set up the facility this fiscal and the company also plans to merge its subsidiaries.

Leading IT company GTL on Thursday said it would invest Rs 25 crore to set up a 500-seat facility at Pune and increase the head count of call centre personnel by 750 in 2004-05.

The five storey 30,000 sq feet BPO/Call centre facility would be set up at Wanowarie in Pune, the company said in a release.

GTL has earmarked Rs 25 crore for the first phase of infrastructure, hardware, software and technology for the centre, it said, adding that when fully operational, the Pune centre would handle back office voice as well as non-voice business for company's existing and new clients in US and UK.

The GTL board which met on Thursday also approved merger of Thermax Systems and Software Ltd (TSSL) and Fine Infotech Ltd with itself and has proposed to adopt April 1, 2003 as the appointed date for the mergers.

The upcoming facility at Pune and existing facility at Navi Mumbai would be linked to enable the company to offer data security and disaster recovery to its clients serviced from either locations, it said.

The mergers/amalgamations may not have any impact on the company's financials, it added.
