A report by country's finance ministry on Friday gave a series of economic forecasts and recommendations, ahead of the annual budget that finance minister Pranab Mukherjee will present on February 28.

Here are some of the highlights from the report by the finance ministry's chief economic adviser, Kaushik Basu:
On growth:
* 2011/12 GDP growth is expected to be 9%, +/- 0.2%.
* Expects faster GDP growth in the next two years.
* Agriculture likely to grow at 5.4% in 2010/11.
On fiscal deficit:
* Expects 2010/11 gross fiscal deficit at 7.3% of the GDP.
