IHI, others win India LNG order

A Japanese consortium has won a $258.4 mn contract to expand the capacity of a LNG terminal in western India,

A Japanese consortium led by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co (IHI) has won a 30 billion yen ($258.4 million) contract to expand the capacity of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in western India, IHI said on Thursday.

Under the contract awarded by India's Petronet LNG Ltd., the consortium will design and build a facility to double the capacity at the Dahej terminal in Gujarat to 10 million tonnes a year, an IHI spokesman said.

Other members of the consortium are Toyo Engineering Corp. and trading houses Itochu Corp and Mitsui & Co Ltd. The contract is expected to be signed in mid-January, the spokesman said.
