India Cements Ltd on Monday posted a net profit of Rs 222.65 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, as compared to Rs 117.32 crore for the same period last year.

The total income of the company stood at Rs 896.09 crore for the quarter under review as against Rs 591.50 crore for the corresponding three month period last fiscal, India Cements said in a communique to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The accounts for this quarter were prepared after taking into consideration the transactions of Visaka Cement Industry Ltd (VCIL), a unit of the company, and are not comparable with the corresponding figures of previous period, the company said.
Shares of the company were last trading 6.24 per cent up at Rs 285.25 on the BSE.
