JSW Energy on Thursday posted a 54% year-on-year drop in consolidated net profit at Rs 136 crore for the quarter ended June 30 against Rs 298 crore last year as increased spending on coal and fuel for power plants cut into profits.

Revenue rose to Rs 1,272 crore during the April-June quarter compared to Rs 932 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in a statement.
