In a bid to clean its stables, Norway-based telecom major, Telenor, which has a joint venture with Unitech Wireless, the 2G spectrum scam-tainted Uninor, has asked Sanjay Chandra to step down as chairman of the Uninor board.

Unitech is one of the three major companies - along with Swan Telecom and Reliance Telecom - to have been charged with irregularities in the procurement of 2G spectrum when A Raja's was telecom minister.
Chandra was among five top executives of telecom companies to be denied bail by a Delhi court and sent to jail on Wednesday.
In a similar development, DB Realty, the promoter of Swan Telecom, said on Wednesday that it would appoint new directors on its board.
