A union official said a reconciliatory meeting between employees representatives and company officials ended amicably on Saturday and workers would submit a charter of demands next week.

However, Nokia cleared its stand in a statement, "Nokia internally announced salary increases as part of its salary review process for its operator employees at the Chennai factory. This was communicated in a face to face meeting today. However, some of the employees were dissatisfied resulting in disruption of work. Normal operations were restored shortly thereafter and the factory is working on schedule. We have open communication channels with employees and are engaged with them through elected employee representatives."

The Nokia unit in Chennai makes 600 mobiles per minute. Not happy with the salary hike they were offered, workers at the plant struck work on Friday.
