Reliance Industries, country's most valued firm, on Thursday posted over two fold or 162.22 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 8,079 crore for the quarter ended on December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 3,081 crore for the same quarter in 2006.

Total income of the company increased 23 per cent to Rs 34,831 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007 from Rs 28,315 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Shares of the company were trading at Rs 3,071, down 0.88 per cent on the BSE in early morning trade.
