The Indian rupee strengthened 15 paise against the dollar in early trade today as the US currency weakened against other major currencies.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the local unit, which had gained 33 paise to 47.47/48 a dollar on Wednesday, appreciated by 15 paise to 47.32 in early trade.

Forex dealers attributed the rise in the Indian currency to the greenback losing strength against other major currencies.
