The rupee appreciated by 6 paise to 44.37 against the US dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in the morning trade on Monday, tracking gains in other Asian currencies.

Dealers said apart from dollar's weakness versus other Asian currencies, capital inflow into equities by foreign funds, also kept the rupee sentiment up.
The rupee ended 10 paise higher at Rs 44.43/44 against the US currency in the previous session.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange index Sensex rose by 294.07 points, or 1.46 per cent to 20,326.41 in the opening trade.
