The Kelkar committee has recommended that the government should target to raise Rs 30,000 crore annually in the next two years through disinvestment of public sector undertakings (PSUs).

It has also asked the government to raise resources by selling surplus land of government companies and departments such as the railways and the port trusts.

These resources can finance infrastructure needs particularly in urban areas.
