Sensex up 162 points at intra-day session

BSE 30-share index flares up by 162.22 points or 1.1 per cent to touch an intra-session new high of 15,463.39 points.

The BSE benchmark Sensex climbed to hit another intra-session high of 15,463.39 points at 1115 hours on Thursday after most heavy-weight stocks, led by RIL, made strong rally.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) 30-share index, Sensex, flared up by 162.22 points or 1.1 per cent to touch an intra-session new high of 15,463.39 points at 1115 hours, surpassing previous record of 15,440.20 points reached on July 17.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange's index Nifty rose 41.95 points at 4,541.50.

Heavy-weight RIL stocks remained centre of brisk activity and traded Rs 43, or 2.36 per cent higher to quote at new high of Rs 1863 on the BSE.

Other contributers to the rise in the Sensex were ACC, Larsen and Toubro, Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, BHEL, Grasim Industries, Infosys Technologies, State Bank of India and TCS.
