Addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, Issac said unaccounted stocks were also found during the raids conduccted in 31 shops in different parts of the state on Wednesday.

"In the raids conducted on timber merchants, tax evasion to a tune of Rs.1.72 crores was found," he said.

He said that Government has no intention to hold such raids in all shops. The recent raid was an example to expose the dealers, he said and wanted shop owners to avoid tax evasion.

"Vigilance in check-posts would be further strengthened as it has come to light that the unaccounted stock of marbles and granites found during raids were smuggled into the state," he said.
