Tokyo bourse to open Monday, on guard for manipulation

The Tokyo Stock Exchange and other Japanese financial markets will re-open on Monday as normal, the government said on Sunday, despite the nation suffering a massive earthquake, a tsunami and a nuclear-power crisis.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange and other Japanese financial markets will re-open on Monday as normal, the government said on Sunday, despite the nation suffering a massive earthquake, a tsunami and a nuclear-power crisis.

Financial Services Minister Shozaburo Jimi said in a statement that authorities would watch market activity closely to ensure against market manipulation in the wake of the disaster, which is estimated to have killed more than 10,000 people.
