The Motor Vehicles Act was recently amended to ensure road safety violations are dealt with in a strict manner. Imposing a hefty fine and utilising special technology to track speed limits, traffic signal violations, parking, etc have ensured better monitoring on the road. People who flout these rules are sent an e-challan with details shared on text message. In cases where the information is not passed on to the user, it is advised to check for pending challan.

Here’s how you can check for the same as per HT's sister publication HT Auto:

  1. Check website

Ensure that information about the vehicle's registration number, chassis number and engine number is readily available as it is necessary to understand the challan details.

2. Share information

After typing in details about the vehicle and entering the verification code, choose the option to ‘Get Detail’. This will give you all the information related to e-challans against your vehicle. In case of a pending challan, the website will show facts about the time and location of violation, along with a screengrab.

3. Pay online

People can opt for digital payment of the fine by selecting 'Pay Now'. The initiation of the transaction will lead to a secure payment gateway. Different payment methods are available and a receipt will be shared once the money transfer is successful.
