19-yr-old student hangs herself

A BA-1 student of MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36, hanged herself at her Sector-23 residence here on Saturday, reportedly depressed ever since she had failed to clear two subjects. The police said the victim, Shalini (19), left no suicide note.

While Shalini had sent her mother, Vidya Devi, away to buy something, her grandmother was at home when she took the extreme step. Her father had died a few years ago, and it was her bother, Dheeraj, who found her hanging.

The police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination at the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16.
