3 doctors of Zirakpur hospital booked after patient's death

The police on Sunday booked three doctors of private hospital on the charges of causing death due to negligence - Section 304A of the IPC -, after the death of a Zirakpur woman, Kanta Devi, 40, during treatment on Sunday.

The police on Sunday booked three doctors of private hospital on the charges of causing death due to negligence - Section 304A of the IPC -, after the death of a Zirakpur woman, Kanta Devi, 40, during treatment on Sunday.

Speaking to HT, Zirakpur SHO Deepinder Singh said the case was registered against three doctors of JP Hospital. The doctors are: Dr Monica, Dr Ashish and Dr Amrish Mittal. "We will arrest the doctors soon," he said.

He said the victim Kanta Devi, who was operated upon for removal of tumor from stomach at the hospital on August 8, died on Sunday. "Soon after the news of her death, her relatives came and created a ruckus in the hospital and alleged that she died of negligence and demanded arrest of the doctors," the SHO said.

While talking to the media, Kanta's husband Krishan Ram said he lost his wife due to the is sheer negligence on the part of the doctors. "After the surgery, her stitches were opened repeatedly, which showed that something was amiss in the treatment. On Sunday, my wife came to the hospital as advised by the docotrs. We got a phone call from the hospital at about 2 pm that she was no more," said Krishan Ram.

She used to come daily for the dressing. On Sunday, when she came, she was semiconscious and disoriented as she took some medicines at home. Her blood pressure was very low and suffered a cardiac arrest. We tried our level best to save her," he said.
