3 killed, 4 injured in Ambala road mishap

Three persons, including a woman sarpanch, were killed in a road mishap near Holi village on Barara-Dosarka road on Monday evening.

Three persons, including a woman sarpanch, were killed in a road mishap near Holi village on Barara-Dosarka road on Monday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Tangle village sarpanch Manjit Kaur (40), Amarjit Kaur (15) and Harjot Singh (25). Jagjit Singh (50), Gurpreet Kaur (16), Kuldeep Kaur (45) and Bhupinder Singh (30) were injured.

Locals told the police Manjit had died on the spot while Amarjit and Harjot had succumbed to injuries on the way to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.

Locals had also informed the police that Jagjit, who was seriously injured, had been admitted to the PGIMER while the other injured persons were being treated at MM Medical College Hospital at Mullana.

They said the family was returning home after attending a wedding at Utwala village near Barara when the Ritz car they were riding rammed into a truck parked on a wrong spot on the road.

Sources had said that after hearing a loud sound, a few villagers and passersby had rushed to the spot and extricated the injured from the mangled remains of the car.

He said a case under sections 283 (danger or obstruction in public way), 337 (causing hurt by endangering life and personal safety of others), and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code had been registered and investigations were on.

MM Medical College forensic medicine head Dr OP Aggarwal said the bodies had been handed over to the relatives after postmortem.

He added that the injured were out of danger. Locals informed that the deceased Harjot was driving the car.
