Seven people, including four policemen, were injured in a grenade blast in north Kashmir's Pattan town on Wednesday evening. Preliminary reports suggested that suspected militants hurled a grenade at around 8:05pm at a security patrol and fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.

A police official confirmed this. The official said the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while seriously injured were driven to Srinagar.
The panic-stricken shopkeepers closed shops and the civilian population ran for cover. The town is on the Srinagar-Kupwara national highway.
