5 months after P'kula man's murder, brother and his family booked

On the orders of the district court, the police here have booked seven people for the murder of a man in October last. The orders came on a complaint by Lalita Devi, resident of Rajiv Colony in Sector 16 here, that her husband, Uday Kumar, was killed over share of money which had to be divided between him and his brother Abhay Kumar. The money had come after the sale of a family shop, and the money was with Abhay.

The orders came on a complaint by Lalita Devi, resident of Rajiv Colony in Sector 16 here, that her husband, Uday Kumar, was killed over share of money which had to be divided between him and his brother Abhay Kumar. The money had come after the sale of a family shop, and the money was with Abhay.

She said that on October 16, 2013, Uday had gone to meet Abhay to get the money, at his residence in Abheypur village. Lalita alleged that she received a call from someone that evening that her husband had been beaten up by Abhay and his sons. When Uday's son Raja went to ask about his father at Abhay's residence, he was beaten up too and had to flee.

The next day, Lalita received a message from the railway police that her husband's body had been found on the tracks in Panchkula. While the railway police reportedly told her that her husband had died in a train accident, she told the court that her husband was first assaulted and then thrown on the tracks.

"Earlier, the investigation was done by the Government Railway Police (GRP). We are probing the matter now as the case has been registered on the orders of the court," said deputy commissioner of police Ashwin Shenvi.
