He said with the cooperation of rural residents, various water supply schemes were constructed under the World Bank project and almost every rural household would have a private water connection now.

“The World Bank-aided new water supply schemes have been established in 136 villages of the district and post completion these schemes have been handed over to village water supply sanitation committees of the village concerned,” Pandher said.

He added that 24 hours water supply was being provided to seven villages of the district.

“To make the schemes sustainable and to motivate village committees to comply with the Punjab government's decision of saving water, water meters have been installed in 40 villages of the district. For remaining villages, the work is in progress,” the executive engineer said.
