In the wake of the inauguration of all-women police station and freedom march in support of women safety in Panchkula on August 28, the local police have imposed restrictions on the traffic flow and have planned diversions from certain roads. The police station will be inaugurated by Haryana chief minister.
Route diversions
The police have issued advisory regarding route diversions for commuters between 7am to 11am. Motorists, travelling from Kalka-Pinjore to Chandigarh, have been advised to take a left turn from tank lights to Sankla roundabout, then turn right towards Shakti Bhawan roundabout, then turn from 17/18 roundabout towards housing board and Chandigarh.
Those travelling from Chandigarh to Pinjore-Kalka have been advised to take route from Housing Board to 17/18 roundabout, then to Shakti Bhawan roundabout, then to Sankla roundabout, and tank lights from where to turn right to old Panchkula and towards Pinjore-Kalka.
Motorists going to IT Park-Mansa Devi Complex (MDC) have been asked to take route through Shakti Bhawan roundabout, 17/18 roundabout, Housing Board lights, railway station lights in Chandigarh, Kishanghar roundabout and IT Park.
Besides, the police will also put up nakas from 7am to 11am at tank lights, Sector 6/7 lights, Shakti Bhawan roundabout towards Sector 6/7 lights, MDC lights at underpass towards dolphin roundabout and at entry point towards Panchkula at MDC.

The police station will have female staff, function round-the-clock, a lady ACP as in-charge, two sub-inspectors, three assistant sub-inspectors, four head constables and 16 constables. The police station will also have two bolero jeeps, one Tavera and three motorcycles with women drivers.
"The idea behind all-women police station is to offer women victims a facility free from prejudice and discrimination. We hope to have a facility that will deliver empathy to victims and thereby, quicker and more accurate understanding of the problems and swifter action against the perpetrators," said Ambala-Panchkula commissioner of police OP Singh.
