The PPCC chief was reacting to Bhattal's statement that wrong distribution of tickets led to the Congress' defeat in the Punjab assembly elections. In a statement issued on Sunday, Amarinder said Bhattal should avoid making such statements in public or in the media. "If she really has any opinion about the functioning of the party, she should better give it to the high command, particularly party president Sonia Gandhi," Amarinder told Bhattal.

The PCC president maintained that the party high command had strictly told all leaders not to air their personal opinions about the party functioning in public, adding that a senior leader like Bhattal should better follow the party discipline and guidelines, lest it led to confusion in the party rank and file.
