Anti-encroachment drive held

An anti-encroachment drive was held under the supervision of sub-divisional magistrate (centre) Prince Dhawan to remove the illegal construction made by meat sellers in Janta and Kumhar Colony, Sector 25, here on Tuesday.

An anti-encroachment drive was held under the supervision of sub-divisional magistrate (centre) Prince Dhawan to remove the illegal construction made by meat sellers in Janta and Kumhar Colony, Sector 25, here on Tuesday.

The teams of the UT enforcement wing of the municipal corporation (MC), UT meat hygiene wing of the MC, civil defence organisation, officials of the estate office and MS Kamboj, superintendent, slaughter house, were associated in the drive, including the Chandigarh police.

About 12 temporary structures/kiosks were removed, seven challans were issued by the enforcement wing, while six challans were issued under the Chandigarh municipal corporation (regulation for the sale of meat, fish and poultry) Amendment Bye-laws, 2010".

Unstamped pork (approximately 40 kg) was also seized and destroyed. Two meat shops were sealed by the officials of the UT estate office.
