An auto driver died while his passenger was injured after a speeding car rammed into their auto rickshaw at the Phase 3 and 7 light point on Tuesday.
The victim, Kamlesh Singh, a resident of Sector 52,is a native of Uttar Pradesh. The police said that the auto was on its way to Chandigarh when the incident occurred. The car driver fled the spot, while the injured were taken to the civil hospital, which later referred Singh, who sustained severe head
injuries, to PGMIER but was dead on arrival.

The passenger was discharged after he received first aid. Police sources revealed that a Toyata Innova bearing the taxi number PB01 0891 was involved.
