It hardly seems like a college fest in Chandigarh when youngsters are running around, shouting orders on their walky-talkies. Day One of PECfest 2013 began on a green note, with students dressed in white and black for the FBB Green Marathon, which was flagged off by Surinder Mahajan, coach of the Indian badminton team. By braving the cold during the early hours of Friday at the serene Sukhna Lake, youngsters delivered the message of disagreeing with the forever-increasing pollution and rampant misuse of natural resources by the human kind.
Another first for the fest was the swanky Pitstop Challenge, conducted by Sahara Force India, at the PEC campus in Sector 12. Interestingly called Wheels & Nuts, the challenge attracted most tech-driven boys, who got a chance to try their hands at an actual F1 race car. Letting us in on the details of the challenge, PEC student Preet Singh Mann says, “First, the Sahara team teaches us how to change the tyres of the car. Then, we students compete against each other to see who can complete the challenge the quickest. We are having a blast breaking each other’s records; till now, 38 seconds is the record to beat.”
While the crowd subsided during the afternoon, most students flocked to attend plays. The dramatics team from Quest Group of Institutions, SAS Nagar, put together a play called Darna, which was followed by an act, Kanjus, by the PEC dramatics team.

{{/usCountry}}While the evening saw a glamorous fashion show — Groovz and Glitterati — at the college, the night came to an end with ‘Bhangratheque’ and guest appearances by actors Gurpreet Ghuggi and Gippy Grewal.
