Badal calls on Union minister to seek more central funds
Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal today called on minister of state for science, technology and planning Ashwani Kumar at his residence in New Delhi to seek the latter's personal intervention for getting more funds sanctioned from the Centre to ensure overall development of the state in general and its border areas in particular.
Taking part in the deliberations, the chief minister urged Kumar to sanction adequate funds to carry out developmental projects in the state under centrally-sponsored schemes.
Emphasising the need for devising a scheme exclusively for cleaning of ponds in the villages, Badal said it would not only give a facelift to rural areas but also ensure clean and pollution-free environment there.
He impressed upon the minister to formulate a special scheme for optimum utilisation of the pond water in the villages through making it potable for human drinking and ensuring scientific disposal of sludge from them in a environment-friendly manner.
