A decision to this effect was taken by the CM after discussions with a delegation led by chief parliamentary secretary Som Parkash. It was also decided to set up a suitable memorial, probably on the Amritsar-Attari road, to commemorate Vivekananda's visit to Punjab, a government spokesperson said.

The chief minister asked the delegation to make concerted efforts to commemorate the mega event to pay glorious tributes to the legendary icon who propagated the message of universal brotherhood, goodwill, peace, harmony and amity across the globe through the ethos of religious tolerance and mutual trust.

Prominent among others who attended the meeting was Punjab Technical University vice-chancellor Rajneesh Arora.
