Badal seeks sanction of rural link roads

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal On Wednesday called on Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh and urged him to ensure the speedy completion of all the formalities related to the construction of rural link roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) Phase-XI for Punjab.

The Chief Minister met Ramesh in his office at Shastri Bhawan this morning, and demanded Rs 31 crore to be released under Phase IV of Integrated Watershed Management Program for Kandi Development expeditiously, besides, Rs 91 crore as balance under the NAREGA budget.

With a view to ensure smooth movement of heavy vehicular traffic on link roads across the state, Badal impressed upon the Union minister, Badal impressed upon Ramesh to sanction 385 Kms through routes with 5.5 metres width besides 707 Kms link roads with the width of 3.75 metres.

Conceding the demand of the Badal, Ramesh approved the proposal of 707 Kms link roads and also assured to clear the pending case of 385 Kms through routes within one-and-a-half month.
