Presiding over a meeting to review development works in the kandi belt, the chief minister underlined the need for giving a push to all-round development of these areas. He said the economic condition of people had been adversely affected due to lack of development in these areas.

Badal constituted a high-level committee under the chief secretary to review the development of kandi/hilly areas. This committee will have administrative secretaries of finance, planning, forest, power and irrigation departments as its members.

The kandi belt includes areas in the districts of SAS Nagar, Rupnagar, Nawanshahr and Hoshiarpur.
