Nominated councillor Surinder Bahga, who levelled charges against his colleagues that they have been “bought by the Congress”, will apologise in Chandigarh municipal corporation's House meeting scheduled for Friday.
In a meeting of nominated councillors, which went on for nearly three hours over the issue, on Thursday, it was decided not to bring any resolution against Bahga.
Bahga, who was also present in the meeting, apologised before the nominated councillors and admitted that “he levelled allegations as he was influenced by somebody.”
Speaking to HT, nominated councillor MP Kohli said, “We discussed the issued for nearly three hours, and it was decided that we will not bring any resolution against Bahga as he admitted his mistake. We have told him to apologise in the House and will not ask for any action.”
Other nominated councillors said, “To err is human, and we will not bring resolution against Bahga him.”
Bahga said, “The issue has been sorted out and other nominated councillors have asked for an apology, which I will be doing in House meeting on Friday.”
One of the nominated councillors said, “During the meeting, Bahga said that he should be allowed to express his views openly during House meetings, to which we said he is free is speak, but should be careful with the words.”
On November 25, Bahga sparked a controversy by saying that all nominated councillors had been bought by the Congress and had sold their conscience by approving anti-people agendas during House meetings. He was speaking during a panel discussion telecast on a private channel over the issue of the merger of 13 UT villages under the ambit of MC and the ruling Congress getting approval with the help of nominated councillors.

Also, a political twist has been given to one of his argument, while completely ignoring his scientific logic and appropriate argumentation full of intellectual input in defence of the rural people at this particular juncture.”
