“I am satisfied as the court decision also establishes the fact that Rathore had been lying at all stages and all these years,” Girhotra said.

“And I have been telling everyone that he is basically a liar.”

Girhotra said he would “fight till end to get Rathore jailed for abetting his daughter Ruchika to suicide”, adding that he was confident that the court would send Rathore to jail for abetment of suicide too.

Girhotra said the verdict sent a message to all girls who are victims of people like Rathore that “they must not suffer in silence but instead complain and fight against them and that they shall win”.

Anand Prakash and his wife Madhu, the parents of Ruchika’s friend Aradhna, who have been fighting for justice for Ruchika for 20 years, said they were confident that the Punjab and Haryana High Court, where cases against Rathore were pending, would take a note of the local court’s ruling.

After Tuesday’s verdict, the only option before Rathore is to move a revision petition before the high court, which will also decide whether to grant him bail or not.

He will have to file the revision petition with the bail application, but for that he will need a copy of Tuesday’s order, which he is yet to receive.

Also, he will have to move the petition before Friday, as the high court closes for vacation on Saturday.
