Last seen in Manmohan Singh’s Aaj De Raanjhe, the svelte Punjabi diva was in Chandigarh on Sunday to launch La Opulence, a salon-cum-fashion photography studio by fashion photographer Sunny Dhiman in Sector 22. The pretty actor gets talking to HT City about her films, life and relationships.

About her previous film, Aaj De Raanjhe, which was based on police-public relationships, Gurleen says, “The film got great critical reviews and was an issue-oriented film, but it did not do roaring business at the box office; it may be because I think the film was not marketed well. But, it was a great experience working as a press reporter. In fact, whenever I used to go to the gym, I used to watch news channels, which helped me a lot in essaying my character.”

About her next assignment down south, a film titled Lepakshi, she says, “The film goes on floors from November 18 in Hyderabad and will be shot in Pune, Udaipur and Orissa.”

Talk about television and she says, “I am open to judging reality shows, but am not keen on participating in them.”

Talking about the purpose of her visit to Chandigarh, Gurleen says, “I am happy that Chandigarh has finally opened up to the concept of having a salon-cum-fashion studio on the same floor. Whenever one gets out of a beauty salon, one feels beautiful, and that’s when we like getting ourselves photographed. It is a great concept for youngsters, who can now avail beauty services right before stepping into the photography studio to get themselves clicked.”

Gurleen’s concept of beauty, however, lies within. “I believe that beauty has to come from within. I am a lot into prayers and spiritualism. Also, I believe in staying happy and prefer the company of people who keep me happy. Negativity of any kind is a strong repellent in my life and that is the reason I feel beautiful inside out,” she concludes.
