BJP MP rejects JD(U) objection

Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna on Monday said the appointment of any office-bearer was the prerogative of the party concerned and the Janata Dal (United) had no right to object to that.

Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna on Monday said the appointment of any office-bearer was the prerogative of the party concerned and the Janata Dal (United) had no right to object to that. Khanna was speaking on the issue of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi being made the chairman of the BJP campaign committee for the 2014 parliamentary elections.

Khanna, who was here to distribute cheques to the tune of Rs 45 lakh from the MPLAD fund for development works across the state, said the JD(U) came to power in Bihar after contesting the elections in coalition with the BJP.

Former minister and veteran BJP leader Balramji Das Tandon said under Modi, the BJP would emerge stronger and issues concerning the nation would be addressed in a better way.

Khanna distributed grants of Rs 15 lakh for projects to construct rooms, halls for dharamshalas, building of a school and shed of a gaushala in Fazilka. He gave Rs 5 lakh for works including constructing the Balmiki dharamsala and gaushalas in Sangrur, besides Rs 11 lakh for laying sewer pipes, constructing rooms for orphan children and a senior secondary school respectively.
