The Justice AN Jindal Commission still needs "information from the public" to investigate the scam in the purchase of school textbooks and the science laboratory kits, which came out in May.
Handed the entire school education department record related to the case (principal secretary for school education Anjali Bhawra submitted it) three months ago, the commission issued a press release on Thursday, stating: "In spite of public notice from time to time, the response from the public in providing the commission with the relevant information was very poor."
"It would be the pleasure of the commission to entertain any valuable information that may help in making a through probe and appropriate recommendations to the government," the commission's press release added. The commission formed by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to allegedly bail out his education minister, Sikandar Singh Maluka, has completed its three-month term in which it was supposed to submit its report to the government.
There has been no word from the government, so far, on extending the commission's tenure. The state home department had notified the commission in June.
