Bus pass system introduced in three cities

The Haryana government on Thursday announced to introduce pass system for city bus service in Faridabad, Gurgaon and Panchkula.

Interacting with newspersons here, state transport minister Aftab Ahmed said that the passes would be issued to travel within municipal limits for non-AC and AC buses on monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly basis.

The rates for monthly bus pass would be `450 and `700 for ordinary buses and AC buses, respectively. He said that quarterly bus passes would be issued at the rate of `1,300 and `2,000 for ordinary buses and AC buses, respectively.

Rates for half-yearly bus pass would be `2,500 for ordinary buses and `3,900 for AC buses. Similarly, `4,800 would be charged for yearly bus pass of ordinary buses and `7,400 for AC buses.

There would be no limitation of number of trips, he said and added that the AC pass holders could travel in ordinary city buses but ordinary bus pass holder would not be entitled to travel in AC buses. The passenger would have to carry bus pass in original and produced on demand by the staff, he said and added that passes would be issued at each depot headquarter on all working days.
