The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday issued the formal notification for assembly bypolls to the Talwandi Sabo and Patiala seats.
VK Singh, chief electoral officer (CEO), Punjab, said polling would be held on August 21, from 7am to 6 pm. Nomination filing began, but no one submitted papers on the first day; that process is open till August 2.
Scrutiny of nominations would be done on August 4, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is August 6. Counting would be held on August 25, and results declared the same day. The whole election process will be completed before August 30, he added.
Singh said the model code of conduct had already come in force in Bathinda and Patiala districts, and would remain till the completion of the election process.
