Capitol Complex officially opens for visitors

UT home secretary Anurag Aggarwal, finance secretary Sarvjit Singh and UT IG RP Upadhyaya accompanied him during the inauguration. The initiative has been taken by the Chandigarh tourism department to promote the heritage tourism of the city, and also to make local as well as people from other states and countries aware about the architectural wonders of French architect Le Corbusier.

On this occasion, a special arc was erected at the Tourist Information Centre, on the complex in Sector 1, from where the walk commenced after a brief inaugural ceremony.

Dev also released a brochure, and started a round-the-clock helpline number (1800-180-2116) for tourists visiting the city. He pointed out to the officers that the beat boxes should have uniform colours, and that the administration should expedite the task of preserving the edifices for heritage status.

Interacting with the media, Dev said “We have opened the Capitol Complex for the residents so that they get to see the city’s architecture. Efforts are on to introduce more attractions at the complex. Besides, golf carts will be deployed for the disabled, so that they can also take a tour of the complex.”
