Captain criticises PM Modi

Amritsar member of Parliament Captain Amrinder Singh criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not wishing Muslims in India on the occasion of Eid. Captain said, "Modi declared the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to be biased on the basis of religion as he did not convey Eid greetings to the Indian Muslims."

Talking to media at the local court in SAS Nagar, Captain said Congress candidates would achieve victory in the Punjab by-polls and Partap Singh Bajwa would take care of both the constituencies as he was the president of Punjab Congress.

Singh moved an application in the local court seeking permission to travel abroad which was granted on Thursday.

Captain was involved in a fraud case involving the Amritsar improvement trust. The case was lodged on September 11, 2008, under Sections 420 (cheating), 467, 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating),471 (using as genuine a forged document), 193 (punishment for false evidence) and 120b (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. The relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act were also imposed on him.
