The Central bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against the head warden of Model Jail, Burail, arrested on charges of taking rs 5,000 in bribe from a convict.
The case will come up for hearing before the CBI special judge Vimal Kumar on October 10. In July, the agency had arrested Sarwan Sharma, posted as head warden of Model Jail, Burail, on the allegations of demanding bribe from Sandeep Kumar, who was convicted for kidnapping and lodged in Burail Jail for life-term since December 2008, to change his duty in jail.
The warden had allegedly demanded the money to get a water purifier installed at his house.The CBI had swung into action after receiving a complaint from Pratap Singh Bisht,the brother of Sandeep’s cell mate, Prem Singh Bisht, also undergoing life term.Pratap alleged that his elder brother, Prem, had come out on parole on July 9 and told him that the jail warden was demanding bribe.
The complainant had alleged that Sandeep had retur ned after getting married during his parole, and in the presence of Prem had requested the jail warden to change his duty from the visitors’ room.
To accept his request, the warden asked for rs 5,000 from Sandeep, following which the latter gave him the phone number of Pratap, who works with the UT administration, saying that he was his brother and asked the warden to get in touch with him for money or the water purifier.

Pratap sounded the agency,who laid a trap and arrested the jail warden red-handed while taking the bribe from Pratap opposite a school in Sector 45.
