Girls again outshone boys with a big margin in the tricity in Class-12 CBSE results, declared on Wednesday.
In Chandigarh, which had the highest number of enrolments, the difference between the percentages in boys and girls is around 7%. Of the 9,872 boys registered for Class-12 in Chandigarh, 75.41% cleared the exam; of the 7,843 girls 82.81% cleared the exam.
In SAS Nagar, there is difference of over 17% in the passing percentage of boys and girls. Of the 808 girls, 89.11% girls cleared the exam and only 72.15% of the 873 boys cleared the exam from just government as well as private schools.

In Panchkula, 599 girls appeared of which 94.16% cleared the exam. Of the 724 boys, only 83.15% cleared the exam.

"I think, girls are better fCBSE declares Class 12 resultsocused than boys, so we are leading the chart in all results," said Aanandi Dhavan from Chandigarh, who secured 96% in medical stream.

Except in the non-medical stream, girls have secured the individual top positions in all streams.At the school level also, more girls have secured above 90% than boys. Delhi Public school, Sector 40, Chandigarh has 55 students above 90%. Of the 55, 33 are girls and the rest are boys

In Vivek High school, 14 girls secured over 90% marks against nine boys, with the top position in the school secured by commerce student Anmol Bains with 97.6% .

In Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, 21 girls against six boys secured over 90% in the Arts stream. Anuradha Bhatia, head of commerce department at Bhavan Vidyalaya, said that the girls were definitely more industrious and hard-working. The society must therefore must equal opportunities to girls as compared to boys.

"The trend has started in big cities, but I think we need a more open-minded approach in smaller towns," he said.

In AKSIPS-65 Smart School, SAS Nagar too, Akansha Chauhan of medical stream topped the school with 88.5%.
