CHB resumes 4 acres in Sector 50 society

CHB secretary Mandeep Kaur resumed the allotment of the land with immediate effect under the rules as the last resort due to the non-compliance of terms and conditions of allotment in terms of Clause 26 of allotment letter (non-payment of dues).

With this order, 10% of the total amount of consideration money, interest and other dues stands forfeited. The housing society was given as many as 12 opportunities to deposit the due amount.

The Chandigarh Sector 16 Cooperative Housing Building Society was allotted land in Sector 50 on January 25, 2002.

The society was to make the payment in three installments of around 1.83 crore each. Due to the non-payment of land within the stipulated period, the society was issued a show cause notice in December 2004 and afforded an hearing on November 13, 2007, before the CHB CEO.

Department officials said that that if the dues were not cleared, the flats will also be resumed.

She added that eviction from the land was the next step, but per the administration notification, the responsibility of the constructed flats within the society fell with the registrar of the society. “It is up to them to take further action.”
