Chemical blast leads to fire at NIPER lab

A major fire broke out at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at Sector 67 in SAS Nagar on Tuesday afternoon.

As per officials, no casualties were reported.

Fire officials said a chemical blast took place when scientists were carrying out research work and the fire spread in the lab.

Fire officer Shyam Lal Kamboj said, “As soon as we received a call about the fire, three fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The firemen managed to control the fire within two hours with the help of mechanical foam. Loss worth lakhs was reported in the lab.”
