Chandigarh Mahila Congress president Meenakshi Choudhary has demanded the disqualification of former mayor Harjinder Kaur from MC House over the issue of entering into an illegal agreement with the municipal corporation.
Choudhary through a press statement said as per Municipal Corporation Act, no family member of any councillor, especially spouse, could get financial benefits from the MC. Former mayor's husband Manmohan Singh had signed a memorandum with the civic body and had also received four cheques from the MC.
She said the Congress delegation would meet the deputy commissioner for the cancellation of the societies, where both of them were involved.
Even Chandigarh Youth Congress vice-president Harmail Kesri said it was the misconduct of the post of councillor and their delegation would meet the mayor and demand Harjinder's disqualification.
