The children were allegedly picked up by the police on the suspicion of picking pocket at a political function of Rohtak MP in Indri on Thursday.

Local residents said the victims' parents were pressurised by some influential persons of the area not to file a complaint to the higher police authorities.

According to the videos in possession of HT, Harul Hasan alleged that his 11-year-old son and his orphaned nine-year-old friend, were at chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's political rally. He said free lunch for the rally participants had attracted the children to the venue.

He said pockets of a few local Congress leaders were picked during the crowded rally and people grew suspicions on the two minor children hailing from poor families and handed them over to the Indri police officials.

Hasan, who returned home on Thursday night after attending a funeral in Chandigarh, was shocked to learn that his son was in the police custody.

Later, they were admitted to the community health centre, but left the government hospital on Friday evening under mysterious circumstances.
